Origin of Fire: 2nd floor apartment bedroom

Injuries: 8 people treated for minor injuries
Number of People Displaced: 32 people out of the 51 residents are being assisted by the Red Cross. The Red Cross has set up a shelter at West High School.
Additional Information: When crews arrived they noted heavy smoke coming from the front of the building and fire coming out of a second floor apartment on the rear of the building. Crews set up ladders at the rear of building as people were hanging out of their windows. Seven people and one dog were rescued by firefighters via the ladders. The rest of the residents were able to evacuate on their own. The fire was quickly extinguished by crews and residents at this time are being assisted by firefighters to collect belongings. There were 2 minors (10 years old and 14 years old) in the apartment where the fire is believed to have started. The GBMFD Fire Marshal’s Office is currently working at finding a cause of this fire. Ashwaubenon Public Safety, Howard Fire Department, DePere Fire Department, and County Rescue were called in to assist with this fire.
